A story I wrote for my Niece Emilee when her mom was deployed to Iraq – Just wanted to share –
Dedicated to the Queen Mom and Princess Honey Pie and thanks to a special Uncle with much love – YAYA
Once upon a time there was a beautiful Queen who dreamed of having a family to love and cherish. She waited a long time to be blessed with a child, but when it didn’t happen right away, she was afraid it never would. Finally one day her dream came true, and she was blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Looking down at this lovely child, she counted all of her fingers and toes, and saw she was perfect. Then she looked up at her sweet face and thought “My-oh-my Honey Pie”, and that became the little girl’s name.
As Princess Honey Pie grew the Queen’s love grew more and more each day. How could one child, one beautiful child, be so very special? Her heart was filled with so much love and joy, she thought it would burst. But then a war broke out and the Queen was called to away to help. The thought of leaving Princess Honey Pie behind filled the Queen with more sadness then she could stand. The only thing that made her sadness bearable was that Princess Honey Pie would be safe and very loved while she was away.
When the Queen told Princess Honey Pie that she had to leave, the princess became very sad and confused. What had she done to make her mom want to leave her? She thought if she was very, very good then maybe, just maybe, her mom wouldn’t leave her. Honey Pie tried her very best but when the day finally came her mom left in spite of how good she had been. Princess Honey Pie felt she must not have been good enough, and was very sad.
The Queen did not want the Princess to worry about her. She wanted her to know that she would be safe and protected by the strong knights that guarded her. The Queen also wanted to make sure that Princess Honey Pie didn’t listen to bad storied about the war, or think she was the one who was hurt in these stories. Only the Queen’s sister would know if her mom was truly hurt, and her Auntie promised Princess Honey Pie she would tell her right away if this ever happened. This made the Princess very happy because now she knew she wouldn’t have to worry.
As the days past Princess Honey Pie became more and more angry that her mom had left her. She wondered what she did to make her go away – didn’t she love her anymore? The Princess then became very, very sad – she didn’t want to be mad at her mom; she loved her more than anything in the world, but what Princess Honey Pie didn’t know was that her mom understood. She knew that even though her beautiful girl was mad at her for leaving, that the Princess loved her with all of her little heart.
The Queen hoped her little girl would understand that she had no choice but to go. That she was helping to save the brave Knight’s that were hurt in battle while protecting their kingdom. And lastly, that even thought it felt like an ocean separated them, she never stopped thinking about her little Honey Pie, and would get back to her as soon as she could.
The sadness and the anger that Princess Honey Pie felt, slowly started to melt away. She still missed her mom very much, but they talked and wrote letters to each other to share their adventures. Princess Honey Pie felt happy. She knew that her Queen mom would be home safely very soon and that nothing would ever separate them again. But until then, they made plans to look up at the stars each and every night, and when they did, they knew they were looking at the same stars together.
My-oh-my Honey Pie
